Our Story Continues. Every generation brings a new chapter.
When the Highlanders arrived aboard the Polly in 1803, they were newcomers to Prince Edward Island, building a future in an unfamiliar place. They brought their traditions, their hopes and their determination to create a community.
More than two centuries later, that spirit of new beginnings continues.
Belfast is proud of its heritage, but our community is about more than its past. Today, people from different backgrounds and places are choosing to make Belfast their home, adding new traditions, perspectives and experiences to our shared story.
The Belfast Historical Society believes that history is something we make together. By celebrating our roots while welcoming new voices, we ensure that Belfast’s story continues to grow.
You don’t have to come from Belfast to be part of Belfast. You just have to be here.
